PERFORMANCE LEAK DETECTION TESTING

LEAK DETECTION TESTING

Even the best roofi ng systems can sustain damage during construction and normal building maintenance, in addition to the day-to-day wear and tear that every roof endures.

Single-ply membrane damage can eventually lead to leaks, which necessitate costly leak investigations and repairs.

This system detects damage that may not be visible to the naked eye, locating problem areas with precision that can be treated with minimal invasion.

It is the latest technology of leak detection and testing of the integrity of waterproofing.

The EFVM test uses an electrical conductor install at the perimeter and around roof drains and, when necessary, a conductive medium under the membrane.

Then, a small amount f water is applied to the roof followed by a low voltage charge to create an electrical potential difference between the non-conductive membrane and a conductive deck or substrate. A watertight membrane will isolate the potential difference.

Any breach in the membrane creates a ‘vector’, or ground fault connection, which is measured and marked by an ILD technician.

All breaches are cataloged to allow for repairs by the roofing contractor on site, and are retested after repair to confirm theyare watertight.
